The Adventures of Rahul:Part 1

Bonjour people!!!!! This is my first blog on myself!!! All i wanna share is how my life went through one year of engineering. As one of my friend's status message read," I've completed 25% of my engineering" a few days ago. Well successfully or not, lets keep it aside for this moment ;-).
The past 9 months have been a mixture of joy and distress for me. Joy, coz i met a bunch of awesome people who r gonna be my friends for life and i was in an awesome campus(the climate sucks though) and Distress, coz i hate the very idea of STUDYING!!! Let me keep the distressed part with me and share the joy part with you guys. While typing this stuff, i just wikied what distress actually means. Its kinda funny: Distress refers to a process in which materials tend to worn out due to external and natural forces. We can effectively replace "materials" with students where external being the college and natural being parents. Well, lets keep the cynicism for my upcoming blogs and lets carry on with my adventures and explorations in this NEW WORLD.
When i came to this campus in August of last year, I was on cloud 9, coz getting through JEE was itself a herculean task and all my kith and kin gave a prince like treatment to me and I felt i was the king of the world.
The horns that have grown on my head needed some ragging to go back. After performing some odd, unusual, and embarrassing stuff i became a bit close to my seniors.
Classes!!! Gosh!!! My first class in the insti was a welding workshop. I was full attentive and had my fresh set of books in my bag, picked one out and started listening attentively. First, i thought, because of the heat i wasn't able to understand properly what the welding guy was trying to say. But finally i realized his English was terrible. He ate half the words and spoke 1/4th of the rest in Tamil. Result: Irritating. He started dictating!!! Damn it!! On the first day itself i left so many blanks in my notes didn't know what was gonna happen the rest of the days. But the guy was nice, he gave good marks ;-). Next, I had maths class. Maths was my favorite subject. But this guy sucked at teaching as well. After coming back to hostel there was a round of ragging by my wing seniors. This was my eventful first day.
By the end of one month, I made 4 wacky friends, realized chem and physics classes were best for having a nice nap, attendance was strict in Comp Sci class, I sucked at Engineering Drawing, maths class sucked, two of my friends had the crush on same girl, i mistook normal fever for swine flu(i was scared to death!!!), practiced hard for fresher night dance which unfortunately never happened and conclude i sucked at hockey. After increasing our wisdom to such heights, we five( myself and my wacky friends) planned to "put-peace" for the weekend.
We planned to go for the Marina Beach in Chennai. In Chennai two things bother you the most: 1) The horrible humid climate and 2) The Tamil crazy people who even in dire circumstances never speak a word in any other language than Tamil(alright sometimes they do give English a shot which leaves us bewildered). Unmindful of this we asked a localite for some directions, he said something and we understood only one word 'Chennai beach'. So we took a ticket to this station and thrilled by our first exploration of the city we sat in the train. We saw the sea half way through our journey and thought we reached the station. But we realized we made a mistake when we reached the Beach station which was in fact the last stop and it was actually a port station. We ran into a security guard who thankfully spoke Hindi and told us we must get down at Light house station in order to reach Marina beach. This train now started going back, my friends said, lets take ticket before we go, i told 'em "Come on!! dunno when the next Train will come! It'll not be a problem let's go." And we jumped into the running train. In sometime we reached the Light House station. We got down and we were about to leave the station gate when we heard a voice "SIR!Ticket!". 'Shit! We r screwed!' this thought sprung in all our minds. We showed them our old tickets, he asked for the return ticket. We Told him we didn't have one. Now followed a series of arguments and he asked us to pay a fin of 2,500 Rs. Even if we swept all our pockets, it wouldn't sum up to that. We begged, bargained and bribed him but nothing worked. Finally he agreed to exempt fine for two people making the final amount a thousand lesser. After we settled the fine we went to the beach. Actually i didn't have plans of getting into the see, but three of my friends entered and were having hell of fun. They took their shirts and pants off!!!(we had our inner wear intact)   Inspired buy them i followed. It was dark so no one could see us!! After giving the waves a tough time we five went to one of the best malls in the city in our shabby sandy avatar. We had some awesome food and sat there discussing about our old & new crushes and rest of the things happening in our lives, till the Mall guys started giving us odd looks which signaled "IT'S TIME U THUGS GET OUT". We crammed in an auto and left to insti. Here the security guy thought we were drunk. He smiled and didn't question. We walked all over the insti and finally sat debating about magic and god, in the lawn in front of our mess.
That was the first ever night out and we were awake till morning six!!! This day is something i'd remember for ever coz it was one of the best. It was the first outing with my 4 best friends and it turned out to be so adventurous. That's all for now folks!!!
